Nurse Practitioner
Tamara graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Purdue University in West Lafayette and went on to earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree specializing as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Rush University. Her doctoral project involved independent research conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Model of Care in the CVTICU aiming to provide information on the unique contributions and barriers to APP care. While pursuing her doctoral degree, she worked as a lead registered nurse in the Surgical/Cardiovascular Thoracic Intensive Care Unit at Rush University Medical Center. As a lead nurse, she managed 25 staff nurses, communicated with CV attendings and intensivist, assess the needs of individual patients, and allocate available resources and nurse staff responsibilities.
Tamara earned her Critical Care Registered Nurse certification and demonstrated expertise to care for post-operative open hearts, LVADs, ECMO, spine, liver/pancreas/kidney transplant, general surgery, and ENT patients. In advancing her career, she developed a strong interest in procedural and surgical interventions, which led her to seek an RNFA certification from National Institute of First Assisting. With additional certification, she has the opportunity to work intra-operatively with Dr Tyndall on surgical cases. Along with assisting Dr Tyndall in surgery and in the office, she manages her own clinic. She is able to facilitate plans of care, including diagnostic work-up. She is also qualified to prescribe medications, perform a history and physical exam, diagnose, treat, and follow-up with patients.
Tamara likes being active and outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her mini Goldendoodle, Winnie.
